K-FESt 2023

This year marked the 10th Anniversary of K-FEST Arts festival in Killorglin, starting in 2013 it was a much different experience albeit just as exciting then as it is now! Having volunteered and exhibited in the first year you could just tell it was something really intriguing to the public and also something exciting for participating artists. The use of old unused buildings in the town of Killorglin opens up gallery spaces to people that wouldn’t normally be inclined to go to a gallery. This year used a number of spaces for the first time and it left a sense of newness to the festival which we had been missing over the last couple of festivals.

We had a number of amazing artists showing brand new work, along with the town gaining an unbelievable new mural on Mill road by artist Shane Ha.

‘Peggy’s Angel’s’ played a huge roll in setting the scene of the town for the June bank holiday weekend. These were an amazing addition generously donated to the town by Nollaig Fahy who embarked on this project of ‘Angel's of Hope’ about 10 years ago, he had over 50 of these 8ft x 5ft fibreglass Angels painted and designed by a number of different groups and celebrities in a time of gloom in Ireland with the ambition to create a sense of hope and light. We had 13 of these wonderful angels given to a number of local Killorglin groups to design and create their own interpretation of Hope on them, I will put some photos below for reference!

Already looking forward to seeing the festivals development next year!
